New Website Launched for United States Bid for the 2027 Summer World University Games

Orlando, Florida, and Cary, North Carolina: The U.S. International University Sports Federation (USIUSF) and the North Carolina Bid Committee (NCBC) today announced the launch of the new website for the United States Bid for the 2027 Summer World University Games. The URL for the new website is www.ncwug2027bid.com. Today’s date was specifically chosen by the U.S. Bid Team to coincide with the formal opening of the international phase of the bid process for the 2027 Games, as established by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), international governing body of the World University Games.

“I really believe the new website, developed by the wonderful team at Hummingbird Creative Group, a significant sponsor of the bid, captures and reflects the essence of our proposed host region and state,” said Hill Carrow, Chairman & CEO of North Carolina’s bid for the Games. “It is vibrant, colorful, and energetic. The site is informative, helpful, and easy to navigate. The new website reflects the wide variety and diversity not only of the Games and its participants, but also of the Triangle area. It captures the pageantry of the Summer Games and certainly helps generate great excitement for one of the largest and most important Olympic sports events on earth.”

With the announcement of the selection of North Carolina’s Triangle Region, including the cities of Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and Cary, as the USIUSF’s Host City Bid Partner in February of this year, the local bid committee established an initial website designed primarily to educate and inform the public about the World University Games, particularly in the United States where the Games have only been held twice and, therefore, are not as well known.

“The bid committee has now taken the website for the bid to a whole new level,” said Dan Guerrero, President of the USIUSF. “It is a world-class site now, both in terms of look and content – appropriately reflective of the global event the United States is seeking to attract and host in 2027.”

Today marks the start of the international phase of the bid process for the Winter and Summer World University Games for 2027. FISU has also previously announced that it will consider selecting host cities for the 2029 Winter and Summer World University Games simultaneous with the announcement of the 2027 host cities.

“The USIUSF will be in meetings with FISU at the site of the upcoming 2021 Winter World University Games in Lucerne, Switzerland, and at FISU Headquarters in Lausanne next week,” said Delise O’Meally, Secretary General of the USIUSF and FISU Executive Board Member. “I very much look forward to directing my fellow Executive Board members and FISU senior staff to the new website. I believe they will be most impressed and will be very much looking forward to receiving America’s bid for the Games.”

While the content of the new website was written and compiled by the North Carolina staff for the bid, the extensive design and development of the site was led by Hummingbird Creative of Cary, NC, a Champion-level sponsor of North Carolina’s bid and the same firm that designed the widely-praised and highly-acclaimed triangular bid logo (which appears at the top of this release). “It was such an accomplishment to develop an impactful bid logo and brand identity for this amazing event,” said Wendy Coulter, CEO of Hummingbird Creative Group. “With that so well received, our next strategy in raising the bar of the event marketing was a suitably elevated website to complement the logo, and, most importantly, to show that the Triangle, North Carolina, and the United States can deliver at a world-class level for an event of the global stature of the World University Games.”

About the Summer World University Games: The Summer World University Games are the world’s largest event for student athletes, ages 17-27. The rightsholder for the Games is the International University Sports Federation (FISU), based in Lausanne, Switzerland. The World University Games got their formal start with the 1959 Games in Torino, Italy, where 985 athletes from 45 countries competed in 7 sports during a 12-day period.
